Get a dog
After you get any livestock (cow, sheep, chicken) go to the forest area during a drizzle rainy or snowy day.

Get a horse
Raise your friendship level with chen to 5,000 or more(he likes food iteams that aren't eli leaves or grass)and he gives you a horse.

Fishing rod
During your fist year on the island if you can boost Taro's friendship (he likes crops) enough he'll give you a fishing rod.

Build First Bridge to open up more Events
The first Bridge to build should be the one to open up the Meadow that is located East of your Map. Once you tell Gannon to Build the Bridge, More events will appear in your calendar!

Getting a horse (more info)
Someone has already posted getting a horse but i am going to tell you an easier way to find out. Just have two hearts with both Chen and Charlie. This can be done by giving gifts or just talking to them regularly.

Weather report
Talk to taro once a day to get a 100% acurate weather prediction for the next day.

Carpenter and animal dealer
The carpenter Gannon appears on day 11. Mirabelle and her daughter julia the animal dealers appear the next day.

Random Items
Raise Wada's Friendship to 7 or higher. During the 3rd year, visit him to unlock the area near the Tower. Manfred will give you a random item daily. Save your game before you speak to him and reload in order to obtain Crops and Grains not yet unlocked.

1-hit wonder popstar Lanna and fisherman Denny
After catching and shipping 50 fish Denny moves to the house at the beach. After shiping 70 fish Gonnon builds a house next to the bridge to the medow that Lanna moves into.(both you can mary)(they both also like fish any size)

Selfish bussinessman Regis and shy tofu-lover sabrina
After getting access to the forest-mountain area go into the mine (225 floors total) after shipping 50 ores regis and his daughter sarbina move into west town.

Friendship level
Whenever you talk with someone you can marry there's a heart icon next to their image that shows how much they like you.here are the levels:
black/grey = 0-10,000
purple = 10,001-20,000
blue = 20,001-30,000
green = 30,001-40,000
yellow = 40,001-50,000
orange = 50,001-60,000
red = 60,001+ <- marrige point if you've gone thru each heart event. Free animals
After buying an animal barn or chicken coop go inside Taro shows up with a baby chick (coop) or calf (barn) and gives it to you which is easier than buying an animal right after getting a barn or coop.

Animal lifespans
Animals after certain amounts of years die of age here are the lifespans:
chicken - 5 years
sheep - 6 years
cow - 7 years
It is impossible to avoid this so if possible try get the animal to like as much as possible then sell them. The more festvals the animal has won and how much it likes you increases it's worth. NOTE: pets (horse and dog) don't die.

Mine info
Heres a few things to know about the mine: there are 225 floors, falling five floors from a pitfal reduces 100 stamina, reaching the bottom floor gets you some recipes from the harvst goddess, no junk ore on floor 75.

These are specail fish that can only be caught after certain conditions are met:

Angler fish/@beach/spring+winter/100cm - can only be caught on clear or sunny days

Carp/@forest/spring+summer+fall/80cm - catch all other rare fish

Coelacanth/@jungle/all year/155cm - only caught between 6AM-11:59PM

Huchen/west town/spring+summer+fall/150cm - no specail conditions

Spa catfish/east town/spring+summer+fall/120cm - caught on drizzle or rainy days only

squid/beach/spring+winter/50cm - caught between 9PM-4AM





Dog (Needs More Red Tick Beer)
Getting the dog on HMIoH actually isn't that hard. Talk to Mirabelle each day until she allows you to give her presents. When she allows gifts to be given to her, give her eggs or milk each day until you have two hearts on her, then simply talk to her every day to keep her at two hearts, until a rainy day.

When it is raining, go to the forest. She'll come racing after you, talking about a dog with a scarf. You look for her (apparently it's a girl dog) When you find her, Mirabelle will clean her and give her back to you (though it would be a better idea to of already of bought pet food before you get the dog).

The dog'll live in your stable. It'll take a while to get used to taking care of a dog, I would know, I accidentally went almost a week without taking care of her.

Chen and Charlie
As I have mentioned in one of my previous "cheats". To get a horse you need 2 hearts with Chen and Charlie. Now I am going to give you some hints of what they like.
The top is the ones they like most.

Chen:
Noodles
Edmame
Curry

Whatever you do, don't give Chen a rubber boot.

Charlie:
Dry Curry
Any other type of cury
desserts (excluding chocolate)

Whatever you do don't give Charlie eggplant. He also doesn't like most vegetables.
