Super Mario 64 DS Nintendo DS Cheats

Unlockable: Mario
Once you obtain 8 stars, enter the rec room and unlock the 8 star door. Jump into
the Mario picture and defeat Goomboss to obtain the key for Mario's Room.

Unlockable: Red ! Boxes
After obtaining 14 stars, stand on the Sun carpet in the main plaza. Enter first
person view mood and look up to the beam of light. In the new world, stomp on
the red switch in the middle tower to unlock the red ! boxes.

Unlockable: Luigi
After unlocking the red ! boxes, go to the castle courtyard. Punch the giant boo
with the cage inside of him to enter Big Boo's Haunt. Obtain the first star by
defeating all the Boos to get the staircase. In the second goal, as Mario, go up the
stars and into the room with the single bookshelf. Use the fire flower to float up to the room above, where you'll find a Luigi painting. Jump through the painting and
defeat Big Boo to get Luigi's key.

Unlockable: Wario
After obtaining 30 stars and defeating Bowser for a 2nd time, head up to the
second castle floor and enter the room where Snowman's land. On the left you'll
see a Luigi painting, but its reflection in the mirror will be a Wario painting. Get
the flower to turn invisible and walk through the mirror to appear on the opposite
side. Jump into the Wario painting to enter the level. Defeat Chief Chilly to obtain
the key for Wario's Room.

Unlock Courtyard Cannon
After you collect all 150 stars, head outside to the courtyard near the lake. (not
the moat under the castle) You'll find that the cage to a cannon is gone, so you
can use it to blast on the roof collect 3 1UP mushrooms, and a Power Flower. (this
is also the only way to unlock one of Luigi's minigames) Also, if you head back to
Cool, Cool Mountain and choose "Big Penquin Race" or anything past that for your
mission, you'll find that the penquin is now really fat and harder to race.

Hint: Health Recovery
When damaged, find a body of water and swim under. After, simply swim back up
to your characters head is out on the surface. Your health should replenish.

Hint: No Hat, No Service
Have you ever wondered what the game would be like without a hat? Go to the Tall, Tall Mountain level and find the monkey after the super Bomb-omb. Grab it and it will steal your hat. Then exit the level. Now if you play as that character they will have no hat even if you restart. After this, wait until the Toad right inside has your hat. He will give you the hat and a star. Yoshi can't experience this but if you find a small crate eat it and you will get a square egg. If you hit a question block with no hat it can get pretty ugly.

Hint: Course 6, Navigating the Toxic Maze
This maze always gets the better of me no matter how many times I try it. To get the star without having to navigate the maze is simple. Enter this level as Luigi and head down towards the sea monster section. You will have to take a lift to get down to him. Before you step on the lift have a look around and you will see the
star through a mesh fence. Now you can see the star hop on the lift and head downwards. At the bottom you will see a power flower box. Burst it open and quickly hop back on the lift. At the top you will have plenty of time to get off it and walk through the fence and grab the power star, simple!

Hint: Rabbits
Having trouble finding the bunnies for the rec room? Their locations are as follows, but be sure to talk to the rec room toad with the characters before looking for the bunnies.

Right when you run out of balls on slots shot (mini-game) keep on pushing down on the trigger in the touch screen and it will keep on giving you bonus chances on the slots.

Glitch: Fall Through Water
Go to Wet-dry world and make the water level as low as it can go but still submerging little part of the gray ramp. Go under the gray ramp and right where the bottom of the ramp comes out of the water. Make your character jump up and hit the bottom of the gray ramp. This will cause your charater to fall through the bottom of the water.

Hint: Extra Toad Houses
At the end of the levels, jump onto the flagpole and when the last two digits of your countdown timer are the same. For Red Houses, jump on at 11, 22, or 33. For Green Houses, jump on at 44, 55, or 66. And for Orange Houses, jump on at 77, 88, or 99.

Hint: Warp to World 5
There's a warp pipe that will instantly bring you to World 5 from the World 1-Tower. When in the hidden room with the second Star Coin, notice a small gap in the upper-right corner of the room that's never closed by the shifting blocks. You can jump into the gap to reach a hidden area with a 1-Up (smash the invisible blocks as soon as you enter the room). Shell Mario can go one further, breaking the blocks along the floor to reach the warp cannon.

Hint: Infinite 1UPs
At the pipe right at the end of World 1-4, kick a koopa shell and it'll keep sliding back and forth between the pipe to the right and the wall to the left. If you jump every time the shell comes your way, the shell will kill the enemies that constantly appear, eventually giving you you 1UPs.

Hint: House-ploitation
First, each time you get to a boss stage, return to world 1. Play the first stage once through, getting all the power ups but the giant mushroom (you are forced to only be super mario at the end of the level if you gat it, without the fireballs). Instead, beat it and jump on the flag pole when the last two digits of the clock are either 66, 55, or 44. This way, a toad house with extra lives will appear. Repeat this until you have many, many lives to spare. To cheese the bosses, play through one more time (without getting the big mushroom) and end when the last two digits of the clock say 99, 88, or 77. This will make a toad house with the giant mushroom powerup appear. It will replace whatever else you already have. Finally, go to the stage with your newly equipped giant mushroom, fireballs, and lives. Play through it, but don't use your giant mushroom yet. When you get to whatever boss you are playing, immediately activate the giant mushroom. Now you can defeat the boss just by touching him! I don't know if the big mushroom will kill all bosses, but for most bosses, this works.

Hint: Free Mushroom Houses
Instead of immediately jumping onto the flag pole at the end of a stage, take your time and watch the clock. If you hit the flag when the last two digits of your timer are the same (example: 133, 211, or 099) you'll unlock a mushroom house on your World Map. If the last two digits are 1, 2, or 3, you'll unlock a red mushroom house. If the last two digitsl are 4, 5, or 6, you'll unlock a green mushroom house. If the last two digits are 7, 8, or 9, you'll unlock an orange mushroom house.

Hint - Warp Zone Cannons
In some worlds, there are cannons you can access (usually through taking secret exits). When you enter the cannon area, there will be a large cannon in the area, and a world number written below it. If you want to warp, simply drop into the cannon and off you go! Here is a list of the known warp zones thus far: World 5

When trying to defeat this catepiller, don't hit him when he is red. Hit the

Hint: Fight The Shroob
Increase your party to 30 or more and requisition the following items: trampolines
and copy flowers. When the boss is inside the globe, use the trampoline to destroy
it and use copy flowers to help do damage. If you can inflict over 800 damage per
character for a few turns, the boss will be defeated easily.

Hint: Fighting The Giant Pirahna
When you get to the bottom of the Koopaseum, make sure to load up on a lot of
fire brother items in the secret shop. Use the move where Mario shoots out water
on the flames then use his hammer on the crack on the wall to enter the secret
shop. After you get to the Giant Pirahna, use the fire brother items on it and it'll
do about 50 to 90 damage.

Hint: Wack-O Elast-O
While fighting Elasto Piranahs, always attack from the top where it's vulnerable.
Attacking from the side will only do one point of damage.

Hint: Card Assembly
As you play through the mission mode, you'll unlock various cards that you can
use for forming your own battle deck. Some of these cards will come incomplete,
and they'll have open slots that need to be filled. Fill these slots with the single-tile character cards in order to make use of the larger cards. Finding the right single-tile card to fit into the larger card can sometimes be a pain, but there's a trick to make it easier. First, find out how many tiles make up the larger card you want to complete (usually 3-5). On the card selection screen, select the button on the top menu (fourth column) that displays only the cards
with the number of tiles that make up your chosen card. Scroll down to select that
card (the incomplete cards are labeled with a purple badge) and place it in your
deck.

Back out to the card list and then press the top menu button that restricts the card
list to a particular team (second column). Pressing this button should remove all
cards from the list temporarily. However, if you press the top menu button (fourth
column) to disable the tile-count restriction you'll be left with a list of cards that match the team of the incomplete card in your deck. This leaves you with just a
few single-tile cards to try out, eliminating a lot of fuss when trying to complete
the "empty" cards.

Bury a shovel anywhere and dig it up one day (24 hours) later. The shovel will
become a Golden Shovel. Using the Golden Shovel, you can bury bags of money to
hopefully grow money trees. Larger lumps of money increase the odds of growing
a fruitful money tree.

Hint: Growing Fruit Trees
You can plant a piece of fruit to grow a tree that bears that fruit. However, not all parts of your town are suitable for growing. To ensure that your fruit tree grows, chop down an existing tree (preferably one that doesn't grow fruit) and dig up the stump with a shovel. Bury the fruit in the hole you dug and it will always grow into a fruit bearing tree.

Hint: Get New Furniture for Free
If you've got some stuff you don't want, like ugly furniture or shirts, you can
attach it to a letter and send the letter to another resident of your town. Town
residents will almost always respond with a letter of their own and a different item
attached.

Hint: Magic Rock Money
In town, you may attempt to hit each rock with a tool to shake it out for money.
You may continue your shake down until this rock exhausts itself. This manner of
money-making may be done once per day.
When you hit the rock, money will come out. However, you will bounce back. You
will have to run back to hit it again. To prevent this, dig holes around you in a
pattern so that you won't bounce away. You can make 20,000+ bells a day this
way, but you have to be fast to get this much.

Hint: Nookie
Upgrade Tom Nook's shop by simply purchasing the necessary upgrade -- there
are two levels you can purchase normally. A final additional upgrade level (Nookington's) requires someone else (a guest) to shop at the store. If you need a
friend, head to IGN's free Animal Crossing Board and put out your Friend Code!

Hint: Snowman Furniture
In the winter where you find snowballs get a rather big snowball and push a little
smaller one on top and a snowman will be made and will talk about how happy he
is and a little while later he will send you a letter and a piece of furniture but
watch out the furniture may be worth a lot in Tom Nook's store but you can't buy
it in the catalog also it gives you a lot of HRA points.

Hint: Recycle Free Items
Go by the post office recycling bin daily and occasionally, there's junk left over you may find valuable or useful.
